Economic and social activities returned to full swing in the Enugu metropolis on Friday after a day of nationwide protest on August 1.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that residents of the state did not join the protest, except for nine persons seen with placards in front of Enugu House of Assembly, they however stayed indoors, deserting the roads, streets, and markets.
However, after the first day of the protest, streets, and markets started bubbling on Friday morning.
Ogbete Market, Kenyatta, New Market, and many other markets were said to have been filled with traders and motorists, who had come out in pursuit of daily living.
Also, banks, offices, and street shops opened for businesses as more residents were seen on the streets.

A trader at Kenyatta Market Uche Usor, said he had to resume after it was obvious that there was not going to be any crisis within the state capital as a result of the protest.
“You know we stayed away from the market to avoid trouble. The way the noise of the protest was going showed that something sinister was going to happen.
“My brother, it was better to stay away and hear the story of what happened than you being the object of discussion and pity. But we thank God that there’s peace and I assured my customers that I will be in the market this morning and they’re coming,” he said.
