Eko Hot Blog reports that the Office of the Representative for Epe Constituency 1, Lagos State Youth Parliament, Hon. Mahruf Odunare, on Saturday, hosted an event to commemorate the International Boy Child’s Day.
The event, which held at the Epe Local Government Council Chamber, was an Epe Boys Safe Space initiative.
The programme, themed “Eyin Ni Di Akuko: Empowering Tomorrow’s Men”, aimed to provide a platform for dialogue and action regarding the challenges facing young boys in society today.
Addressing the audience, the keynote speaker, Mr. Adegboyega Yusuf, emphasized the critical role of nurturing boys to become responsible and valuable members of society.
He highlighted prevalent issues such as involvement in cybercrime, gambling, theft, cultism, and terrorism among young boys and underscored the importance of steering them away from these destructive paths.
The speaker passionately advocated for the belief that education remains a vital tool for success, countering the misconception among many boys that it holds no value for them.
He also urged attendees to recognize that regardless of their community, family background, or educational institution, they possess the potential to achieve greatness through their attitudes and choices in life.
Furthermore, Mr. Yusuf called upon parents to pay equal attention to their male children, urging them not to solely focus on their female counterparts.
He stressed the need for parents to celebrate and encourage their sons, fostering a supportive environment that guides them towards positive life trajectories.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the challenges they face.
Representatives from various sectors, including education, law enforcement, and community advocacy, contributed valuable insights and resources to support the cause.
In closing, the event organizers reiterated their commitment to providing ongoing support and guidance to young boys in Epe and beyond.
By empowering tomorrow’s men with the tools they need to thrive, they aim to create a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
