Epe Club marked its 50th anniversary in grand style with a Cocktail Night Out Dinner held at the club’s house at T-Junction, Epe, on Friday, December 20, 2024.
The event, which began at 6 p.m., brought together club executives, floor members, and distinguished guests, including the Vice Chairman of Epe Local Government, Honorable Sikiru Owolomonse, who joined to celebrate the Golden Jubilee milestone.
Established in 1974, Epe Club has long been recognized for its contributions to humanity, promotion of indigenous culture and traditions, and efforts to foster peace and harmony in Epe Division. The club has also played a vital role in advancing socio-economic development through investments in human capacity development.
The 50th-anniversary celebration was a vibrant affair, with members enjoying music, dancing, and dining while reflecting on the club’s legacy. A toast to their journey and success stories marked the high point of the evening as members shared memories and discussed the club’s impactful contributions to Epe’s development.
In an interview with Ekohotblog, the President of Epe Club, Hon. Eng. Adebola Rasheed Shabi, highlighted the significance of the milestone. He recounted the club’s founding by young men—now grandfathers—who sought to bridge the divide between Ijebu Epe and Eko Epe, fostering unity and promoting the oneness of Epe Division.
“Back then, there was division—Ijebu Epe and Eko Epe—but these young men united to form Epe Club in 1974, proving we are one Epe. Unity has driven development into the community, transforming Epe into a business and commercial hub,” he said.
He noted that the region now boasts significant infrastructure and investments, including the Dangote Refinery, Dangote Fertilizer Plant, Lekki Free Trade Zone, and burgeoning real estate developments led by indigenes such as the CEO of Adron Homes.
Epe Club’s network of notable individuals, including Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, former Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, and retired Supreme Court Justice Ogunbade, further exemplifies its impact.
In his message to the Epe community, Shabi urged peace, unity, and love, particularly during the festive season. He emphasized the importance of avoiding conflicts and ensuring road safety.
“To our youths, I implore you to shun drugs. Drugs will destroy your future, and the future of this country rests in your hands,” he advised.
