The President of Epe Club and Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebola Rasheed Shabi, has called for unity and love among the people of Epe as the yuletide season approaches.
Speaking during the club’s 50th-anniversary celebration, he emphasized the importance of fostering harmony and goodwill within the community.
The two-day golden jubilee festivities began on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the club’s headquarters in T-Junction, Epe, with an elegant cocktail night. Reflecting on the club’s origins, Hon. Shabi highlighted its founding in 1974 as a platform to promote unity and mutual understanding among the communities in the Epe division.
In his address, Hon. Shabi underscored the significance of peace and togetherness, especially during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“My heartfelt message to the people of Epe is to prioritize peace and love during this season. Christmas represents the birth of Jesus Christ, a time to share joy and kindness. I urge everyone to avoid conflicts and encourage drivers to exercise caution by abstaining from driving under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
The lawmaker also directed his advice to the youth, urging them to steer clear of harmful habits such as drug abuse, which he described as a serious threat to their future and the nation’s development.
“To our young people, I implore you to avoid drugs. Drug abuse destroys lives and steals the promise of a bright future. You are the leaders of tomorrow, but indulging in such vices jeopardizes not only your potential but also the future of this country. We are blessed with talented and intelligent youth in this division, and I urge you to protect that legacy by making responsible choices,” he stated.
The cocktail night ended on a lively note with an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie as members danced to vibrant music, setting the tone for the rest of the jubilee events.
