The prayer session, anchored by Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED) Acting Deputy Provost, Dr MA Shittu, gave room for a few members of the club to reminisce on the simple and impactful lifestyle that the deceased lived. One of the BOT members of the club, Prince Badejo said:

“Alhaji Lanre Rasaq is a politician and he is a politician with a lot of differences. He strives to uplift everybody around him. When he died, there are a lot of people in this town who are crying that “will they be able to get a helper that will lift them up?” Some of them came to my house and they told me, “Lanre Rasak is gone, if not for that, I would not have come to you.” Politics apart, there are a lot of people that he bought ram, clothes and foodstuff for during Ileya festival.”

The former MOCPED Governing Council member said Lanre Rasaq was a philanthropist who sponsored the bill of many homes especially during social events such as naming ceremonies and hospital bills for the poor and needy. He noted that as his close friend, he was aware that the people so much trusted KLM’s benevolence that they began to spin fictitious stories just to curry favours from him.

“When they come to him that their relative is in the hospital and they are looking for money, KLM would say “alright, meet me in the hospital.” We would go to the hospital together, that person will not surface,” he stated.
