Epe Club Partners LASG To Give Food Relief Stimulus To The Down Trodden In The Division

A foremost social club in Epe Division (Epe Club), on Monday, distributed food relief items to the downtrodden, vulnerable and less privileged in Epe Division to cushion the effect of the lockdown, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eko Hot Blog’s gathered that the locality that the food items were distributed to, include: Epe Central, Eredo LCDA, Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, Ibeju-lekki LG and Ibeju-lekki LCDA.

In an exclusive interview with Eko Hot Blog, the President of the Club, Alhaji (Chief) Taoreed Fowosore, said that the Club had in recent time been enjoying the support of Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“We really appreciate his kind gestures during these trying times.

“He has really proven to be a good leader and a proactive leader indeed, ” he said.

Fowosere noted that the club targeted audience are the vulnerable, the poor, and less privileged in the Division.

“We believe these food items will serve as palliatives to help cushion the effect of the lockdown, as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.

“We thank Lagos State Government for partnering with the club to execute this said project, ” he said.

The President told Eko Hot Blog reporter that Epe Club was established in 1974, comprising of a group of like minds.

The Club comprises of intellectuals from diverse academic discipline, that conceived a noble idea of establishing a group that will contribute massively towards development and promotion of the unity within Epe.

“Our membership is drawn from the 2 LGAs and 3 LCDAs within Epe community.

He added that Epe Club is a social group and a charitable organization, our charitable work is perceived to be a great service to humanity.

“We have a bursary programme designed for indigents of Epe in Tertiary Institution.

“We also have a social welfare programme designed to cater for unemployed youth within the community.

“While inculcating the basic tenets of hard work and making an honest living in the youths, ” he said.

Also, Mr Olayemi Dada, the Vice President of the Club, told Eko Hot Blog correspondent that the distribution of the food items was touch, challenging and a big task.

Dada said that part of measures put in place to distribute the food items to the targeted audience was to mobilise it’s club members across the 5 zones and communities to participate in the exercise.

“We task our club members from the 5 communities in the Division to identify the vulnerable and less privileged and ensure that the food items get to them.

“We expect our members to compile a comprehensive report of the activities within there zones and communities after the distribution exercise and get back to the club.

“It is our sincere hope and intention that those food items get to those who truly need them, he said.

Earlier, Alhaji Wasiu Odeyemi, Member, Board of Trustees of Epe Club, told our correspondence, that the beneficiaries are; the downtrodden, the vulnerable, the elderly and the less privileged.

“Our club will not stop it’s charitable contributions to the people of Epe Division, We will continue after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have initiated various programs and projects in time past and we have more in our sleeve, ” he said.
