Epe Council of Chiefs and Obas Officially Welcomes New Members in Traditional Ceremony

The Council of Chiefs and Obas in Epe Division officially welcomed new members into its fold during a general meeting held at the Epe Local Government Secretariat, marking a significant moment of unity, heritage, and continuity of traditional leadership in the region.

Ekohotblog reports that the newly inducted members include His Royal Majesty, the Monarch of Igbooye; High Chief Moshood Odusegun Anwoju, the Baale of Iraye; High Chief Odularan Ogegbo, the Ogegbo of Ibonwon (Oloja Ogegbo II); High Chief Pitan Adewale, the Aro of Noforija; and High Chief Badajo Olamiji, the Bashorun of Noforija Kingdom.

The traditional rites of induction, which are deeply rooted in the customs of the Ijebu-Epe people, were performed in accordance with the ancient protocols of the council, symbolizing acceptance, honor, and responsibility.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Council, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, Oloja of Epe Land, said:
“We are proud to receive our new members into this revered Council.

Their inclusion strengthens our unity and ensures the continuity of our rich traditions and communal harmony.”

The event was graced by various royal fathers, high chiefs, and notable dignitaries from the six traditional zones of Epe Division, creating a display of cultural excellence, respect for tradition, and mutual cooperation.

In his response, High Chief Pitan Adewale expressed appreciation on behalf of the newly inducted members.

“This is an honour we do not take lightly. We pledge our loyalty, commitment to communal growth, and respect for the customs and unity of our people.”

Also speaking, High Chief Oloja Ogegbo II of Ibonwon remarked:
“Today marks a new chapter. We are grateful for the recognition and welcome.

The council emphasized that the inclusion of these leaders is part of an ongoing process to strengthen traditional institutions and promote leadership development at the grassroots.
