According to eyewitnesses, who spoke to EKO HOT BLOG the overspeeding Toyota Camry, which occupied the two sons of a notable Traditional Chief and two other friends who are in their early 30s and late 20s, was said to have lost control of the Lagos-Epe expressway.
It was said that the car veered off its lane and rammed into a lorry on the other lane which resulted in a fierce summersault, thereby crashing into a waiting Okada and its passenger at GTBank junction.
It was gathered that the victims of the accident were rescued and taken to the Epe General Hospital by some good samaritans.
While one of the two brothers, identified as Hammed was referred by the Hospital Management to Lagos due to the fatality of the injuries sustained, the other, Azeez and other occupants of the car including the Okada rider and its passenger gave up the ghost.
Unfortunately, Hammed who was transferred to Lagos for treatment was later pronounced dead.
This online media platform gathered that Hammed was buried on the morning of 31st December 2021, while the other five victims were buried on the day of the incident at the Epe Public Cemetery situated along Epe Primary Health Cente (PHC), Epe-Ijebu-Ode Expressway.
A source revealed to EKO HOT BLOG that one of the brothers was awaiting his study visa application and that of his girlfriend, while the other was said to have hit a tangible amount of money in a deal suspected to be an internet scam.
The source said the brothers and their friends were out celebrating the success of the deal along Kalesanmi street in Epe before retrieving their car from a nearby Car Wash along the Lagos-Epe expressway.
They had planned to regroup to continue the celebration by 7 pm before they met their untimely death.
“It is however uncertain if they were under the influence of alcohol and drugs to have travelled at such a high speed because residents in the neighbourhood had earlier raised concerns about their driving habit on the streets,” the source said.
Sympathisers, mourners, including friends, business associates, community members, political and religious leaders were reported to have been sighted trooping in and out of the Baale’s residence since the breaking of the incident to condole with the families of the deceased.
