Epe Kayo Kayo Committee Unveils The 2019 Programme

In less than a week, Friday, September 20 the to be precise, the Epe Community of Lagos state  would be playing hosts to guests from all walks of life and regions in the course of this year’s celebration of a cherished festival, Epe Kayakayo.

Already, there is great enthusiasm in the area, with arrangements in top gear to deliver a good edition of the festival.

Epe Kayo, one of the two iconic festivals of the Epe people, the other being the Ebi festival, has come to occupy a prominent place in the cultural calendar of the community and Lagos state.

KayoKayo is a cultural, traditional, religious and historical event that provides opportunities for the Epe people to reunite, celebrate and discuss ways forward in the different areas of communal endeavour.

It thus provides a home-coming opportunity for sons and daughters of the division, as well as friends and business enterprises which try to cash in on the popularity and the usually impressive attendance to advance their trading and investment interests.

Other events lined up include visitation to historical sites,empowerement of indigenes Islamic and cultural competitions, scholarship award and raffle draw with a car as star price.

Already a press conference to sensitise the public had been scheduled for Friday, September 20th at the palace of Olu Epe,HRM Oba Shefiu Adewale, Bamgbopa Eshinlokun 1,in Epe town to be addressed by organizing committee..

According to the Coordinator of the Festival Committee,Alhaji Saliu Okulu, the chairman of this year’s celebrations is Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Former Minister for Defense while the Chairperson of the event is the wife of the Deputy Governor of the State,Mrs Oluremi Hamzat.

While thanking last year sponsors like MTN, Binatone,Intercontinetal Distillers and Lagos State Inland Revenue Service, the release signed by Otunba T,J Abass and Chief Alade Saliu Okulu, more individuals and corporate partners were expected to back this year’s celebrations.

The grand finale of the festival comes up on the 28th of September at the Marina Water front.

The grand finale will feature the carnival procession,musical performance of hip hop artist and one of the leading Fuji artist, Alhaji Shefiu Alao.
