By Babatunde Kaka

Emotions Pour in as late Uthman Habeeb, popularly known as Lata Obama DMW, gets Post-Humous Award at the 2022 Epe Kayokayo festival.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that emotions poured in as the mother and son of late Uthman Habeeb, popularly known as Obama DMW, received a post-humous award on behalf of her late popular Nigerian entertainment executive and artiste manager for his contribution to the Epe Kayokayo festival over the years.

EDITOR’S PICK:

Obama DMW was a former associate of one of Africa’s biggest music exports, David Adeleke, popularly known as  Davido, who died on the 29th of June 2021.

The fun and entertaining moments of the festival on the second day of the program were briefly cut short to make the presentation of the award which saw families, friends and well-wishers accompany the mother of the deceased and her grandson to the stage.

Describing his contributions to the community, the Coordinator of Epe Kayokayo 2022, Otunba TJ Abass, said it was important to remember him for the impactful life he lived due to his benevolence, compassion and spirit of giving which touched many lives.

“Mrs Uthman, I can tell you, seeing you here is no doubt a very sad story but God in his infinite mercy would continue to strengthen you and give you the strength and fortitude to be able to bear such loss. May God continue to be with you and your family.

“Just hold on, hold on to your grandson, hold on to your children, remember the good things that your son did, remember the lives that he touched, that is the only thing that will sustain you and God in his infinite mercy will continue to sustain you,” he prayed.

Presenting the award to the son of the deceased, a former Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Epe Constituency II, Hon. Segun Olulade, described his demise as a rude shock to all, stressing that he was a wonderful young man who came in like a prophet to make an impact in the lives of many before the Almighty God called him home.

While Olulade admitted that the privilege to present the award was his toughest, he admonished the family to jealously guard the award.

Responding to the presentation, the deceased son, Abdulmalik Uthman, seized the medium to express gratitude to the organizers, thereby describing him as a helpful and disciplined father.

FURTHER READING:

“Whenever I come to Epe with him, I’m always quiet, I’m always alone, I don’t like talking and I just observe. I always see people show love and appreciation. Even whenever he’s leaving Epe, they’re always showing appreciation and I’m like Dad, why are all these people so nice to you?

“I have come to understand that he has always been a helpful person, he does not take nonsense and always makes sure that things are always good. May God bless him wherever he is,” he prayed.
