Abiru made this statement in a congratulatory message sent to the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, Oba Dr Shefiu Adewale on behalf of his family and the entire people of the Lagos East Senatorial District.

In the statement obtained by EKO HOT BLOG, the Lawmaker was particularly excited about the sustainability of the rich cultural festival over several decades in commemoration of the triumphant arrival of King Kosoko and his subjects in Epe.

Abiru noted that the path of unity and peace chosen by the two sides of the divide, the Ekos and the Ijebus, to live harmoniously for over 177 years was worthy of celebration.

This, he said, has opened doors for the economic and political emancipation of sons and daughters of the ancient town who have made tremendous contributions with landmark achievements and ground-breaking successes in the scheme of things in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

Abiru, therefore, prayed to God for the continued sustenance of peace and progress in the town.

The message reads in part, “On behalf of my family and the entire people of Lagos East Senatorial District, I felicitate with the good people of Epe on this year’s celebrations of Epe Kayokayo Festival.

“It is gratifying that people of Epe for decades have sustained the celebrations of the historic triumphant entry of Oba Kosoko of the Ologun Kutere Lagos Royal family descent in 1851.

“Indeed the peaceful coexistence between the Eko Epes and the Ijebu Epes who have lived together for more than 177 years is exemplary and worthy of celebration.
