Epe Kayokayo Festival: Children Show Off Spelling, Dancing Skills, Win Prizes

Eko Hot Blog reports that it was a show of talents, skills, and knowledge at the Children’s Party of the Epe Kayokayo festival on Monday.

The party, which was part of several events lined up for the 2023 Kayokayo festival, brought children in Epe Division together.

The event featured dance and spelling bee competitions. The competitions were divided into primary and secondary school categories.

In the junior category of the dance competition, Aseoluwa Odusanya came first, Shittu Mistura came second, and Raji Islamiat took third place.

In the senior category, Oladipupo Habeeb finished first, while Saka Fathia and Olaitan Israel came second and third, respectively.

Afterwards, there was a spelling competition that was also divided into primary and secondary school categories, featuring children from various areas in Epe Division.

The Primary school category of the spelling bee competition featured five contestants, but it was Eleshin Shefiu from Bado-Isale who took the crown. Abadanla Moridiya from Bado-Oke and Agomeji Aliya from Oke-Balogun came second and third, respectively.

In the senior category, there were six contestants, with Ajiborisha Ismail from Bado-Oke finishing in first place, while Oshodi Quoyum from Popo-Oba/Oke-Oba and Onashokun Olashile from Oke-Balogun finished second and third respectively.

Prizes ranging from cash prizes, school bags, lunch bags, food coolers, food baskets, singlets, polos, etc were given to the contestants.

The winner of the junior category of the spelling bee competition received N10,000. The second and third-prize winners received N9,000 and N8,000, respectively.

On the other hand, the winner of the senior category collected N20,000, while N15,000 went to the second prize winner and N12,000 went to the third prize winner.

Also, all winners of the dance competition in both categories got N5,000 each.

Earlier, in his address, the Chairman of the event, Hon. Shittu Idowu Saico, Education Secretary for the Epe federal constituency, noted that the children’s party would inculcate the culture and tradition of the Epe community into the children.

He urged all children present not to forget their heritage and background and also be a part of the trend and development going on in the community.

The coordinator of the Epe Kayokayo festival, Otunba T.J Abass, also charged them to have faith in themselves and be hardworking.

He awarded cash prizes to the contestants of the spelling bee and dancing competition.
