Epe Kayokayo Festival Committee Hails Sponsors, Seeks Presence At Grand Finale Saturday

  • Kayokayo Festival is the biggest cultural event in Epe, Lagos.
  • It is celebrated annually a month after the Eid-El-Kabir (Ileya) festival.
  • It literally translates to “eating to satisfaction.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the 2023 Epe Kayokayo festival committee planning committee has hailed sponsors and donors of the festival.

Recall that the weeklong festival kicked off last Friday, July 28, 2023, and will wind up on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

The 2023 Kayokayo festival has witnessed several events, including prayer programmes, Quranic recitation contest, novelty match, youth rally, children’s party, amongst others.

In a statement issued by the festival planning committee coordinator, Otunba TJ Abass, on Saturday, he stated that the festival’s success has been down to the donors and sponsors.

While thanking the donors for their magnanimity, Otunba Abass sought their presence at the Grand Finale of the event which will start with the Fanti/Kayokayo Carnival at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the First Central Mosque, Oke Balogun, Epe, Lagos.

“The weeklong 2023 Kayokayo celebration is nearing its crescendo with the Grand Finale scheduled to take off in less than 10 hours and to say the festival is a masterpiece, is stating the obvious,” the statement reads.

“The success recorded can be attributed to the support of our esteemed donors and sponsors and we are immensely indebted to all of you for your magnanimity.

“Thanks for your big-heartedness and for being part of the evolution and the transformative narrative of the iconic Kayokayo Festival.

“Your love and patriotic disposition to our community are irrefutable, as evidenced by the zeal and the commitment with which you deployed your hard-earned resources to support this laudable cause.

“You have indeed helped to raise the bar, particularly with our fundraising strategy.

“Please oblige us with your presence at the Grand Finale of this event which starts with the Fanti/Kayokayo Carnival at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5th at the First Central Mosque, Oke Balogun.”

Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Shefiu Adewale

The festival’s coordinator disclosed that His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Shefiu Adewale, Olu Epe of Epe Kingdom will declare the Fanti Carnival open at 11.00 am.

He further revealed that reception will follow immediately by 4.00 p.m. at the Marina Waterfront, with a medley of activities, a line-up of renowned artists billed to perform, “not to mention the scrumptious delicacies awaiting you.”

“Please come, fraternize, and bond with us while you enjoy the hospitable moment in our beautiful town, the fish basket of the nation,” Otunba Abass urged the donors.

“We have successfully changed the ethos, understanding, and perspective of the festival, and you are pivotal to this paradigm shift.
