Eko Hot Blog reports that Princess Surah Animashaun, the Chairman of Epe Local Government (LG), Lagos State, has called on the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to install speed breakers at strategic spots in the area to forestall accidents.
She made the call on Wednesday when an FRSC delegation led by the Lagos Sector Commander, CC Babatunde Farinloye, paid a courtesy visit to her in Epe.
In a statement she personally signed, Animashaun said the FRSC visit was an opportunity for the corps to seek the LG’s assistance for seamless operations in Epe.
The Epe LG chairman also hailed the FRSC officers posted to the area for their commitment to checking reckless traffic offenders.
“I received a delegation from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) led by the Lagos Sector Commander, CC Babatunde Farinloye,” she said.
“The purpose of the visit was to reaffirm the presence and purpose of their officials within the community which include ensuring road safety, gathering comprehensive data of commutes, occurrences and accidents as well as curtailing road encroachment and obstructions.
“It was also an opportunity to seek the assistance of the council to enable them carry out their operations seamlessly.
“CC Babatunde Farinloye stated that while the aforementioned challenges with traffic management are general problems, proper synergy with relevant government authorities within the community including the council will be of great help.
“I must commend the hard-work and commitment of the FRSC officers posted to Epe in the face reckless traffic offenders especially the tanker drivers within the area.
“I also called for the installation of speed breakers at strategic spots in Epe to forestall accidents.”
Animashaun revealed that Epe LG, in collaboration with the FRSC and other stakeholders, will be hosting an Advocacy Programme on July 28, 2023, to sensitise car owners, especially commercial drivers on road etiquettes, speed limits and the disadvantage of reckless driving.
