The medical outreach, which took place at Epe Primary Health Centre (PHC), Agbalajobi Street, Ijebu-Ode Expressway, and Papa PHC, Rahmon Mistura Street, Epe, provided residents with free healthcare services ranging from consultations to surgical procedures.
From Wednesday to Friday, residents accessed general consultations, screenings for diabetes, malaria, and eye conditions.
The outreach climaxed on Saturday with free general surgeries, drug distribution, eye glasses, and sanitary pads at Papa PHC.
Rotarian and High Chief Alaba Jimoh Quadry, a member of Rotary Club of Ilorin, District 9126, explained the motive behind the initiative.
“This health mission was organized to assist residents who face financial constraints in accessing medical care.
I am happy that this is taking place in my hometown, and I urge our people to take their health seriously because health is wealth.”
Dr. Adeleke Awolesi, Medical Officer of Health, Epe LG, highlighted the scale of the outreach. “This is a strategic partnership between Epe Local Government and Rotary Club.
About 8 to 10 doctors are on ground at Papa PHC. Over 12 surgeries have been carried out already this morning, and our target is 40 to 50. Beyond that, screenings for malaria, blood pressure, and eye care are ongoing.
The people of Epe are lucky to have Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun as Chairman, because she is passionate about their health. In October, we are bringing a Mammogram Van to Epe PHC for women to undergo scans that can help prevent breast cancer.”
The District Governor of Rotary Club District 9126, who visited with his team, praised the partnership and encouraged more privileged individuals to support Rotary’s mission of serving humanity.
Similarly, the President of Epe Metropolitan Rotary Club, Rtn. Orelaja Ademola Lawrence, and Senior Nursing Officer at Epe PHC, Balogun Kafilat Oladunni, commended the collaboration and urged residents to embrace healthy lifestyles and frequent health checks.
