Epe Local Government Tackles Cholera Outbreak, Provides Medical Aid, Water Project

Ekohotblog reports that Epe Local Government has swiftly responded to a recent cholera outbreak in the Ito Osun Abalaye and Saga areas, led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun FHTI.

The outbreak, which affected several residents, was linked to the lack of access to clean drinking water in these communities.

In a quick and decisive move, Hon. Animashaun provided medical care and medication to the affected individuals.

Recognizing that poor water supply was at the root of the problem, the Chairman also initiated a borehole drilling project in Ward D1, covering Ito Osun Abalaye and Saga.

This initiative is aimed at providing residents with a reliable source of safe drinking water to prevent future outbreaks of waterborne diseases like cholera.

“The outbreak was caused by poor water access in these areas.

While we addressed the immediate health needs, it’s clear we need to tackle the long-term issue of clean water supply.

That’s why we have started the borehole project to serve the affected communities,” said Hon. Animashaun.

The Chairman’s prompt response has been met with appreciation from local residents, who expressed relief at the government’s intervention.

A resident of Saga remarked, “We are thankful to Princess Animashaun for acting so quickly.

The boreholes will help ensure this doesn’t happen again. Clean water is a basic need, and it’s great to see the government providing it.”

Under Princess Animashaun’s leadership, Epe Local Government continues to demonstrate its commitment to health and infrastructure development, ensuring not only the treatment of the outbreak but also preventing future occurrences through sustainable solutions.

“Our focus is on the health and well-being of all residents in Epe, and this water project is a key part of that vision,” Hon. Animashaun added.
