Epe Local Government Welcomes Stakeholders for Social Protection Awareness Campaign
Ekohotblog reports that Epe Local Government under the leadership of Hon Princess Surah Animashaun, recently played host to the Lagos State Social Protection IBILE Awareness Campaign as part of efforts to inform residents about the government’s programmes to support vulnerable people.
The event, held on November 28, 2024, at the Epe local Government Secretariat, was one of many across the five divisions of Lagos State.
In her opening remarks, the Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, expressed her joy to welcome them to the LGA
She thanked the Lagos State Government for bringing such an important programme to Epe, aimed at helping people in need.
“We are excited to have this campaign in Epe,” she said.
“This visit shows that the government is serious about ensuring that all communities, including ours, benefit from these programmes.
”These initiatives will help people, especially the less privileged, to live better lives.”
Hon. Animashaun explained that the awareness campaign is essential to teach residents about the different programmes available under the Lagos State Social Protection Policy.
These programmes include skill training, free health services, support for farmers, and other benefits for women, youths, and low-income families.
“This event is important because it informs our people about the opportunities available to them,” she said.
“With these programmes, residents of Epe can get the support they need to improve their lives and overcome challenges.”
Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, Mrs. Oluwakemi Gabadeen Adedeji explained the government’s efforts to coordinate social protection in Lagos State.
She said the campaign aims to bring together various government agencies to work better and reach more people.
“The Lagos State Government is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind,” she said.
“With initiatives like discounted transportation, skill training, and the use of the Lagos State Single Social Register to find those who need help the most, we are working to support our people.”
Hon. Animashaun assured the government team of the Council’s full support.
She promised to make sure that residents of Epe are aware of these opportunities and benefit from them.
“Epe Local Government will continue to support these programmes and ensure that our people enjoy the benefits,” she added.
