- …his body was washed ashore on the early hours of Monday at Imagbon Beach, Ibeju-Lekki.
A 400 level student of the University of Ibadan having an affiliate degree program at Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Olude Kelvin, has been found dead.
The young undergraduate was declared missing on Saturday 15th May 2021 by his colleagues who consequently launched a search campaign on several Social Media platforms not knowing that he had drowned.
EkoHotBlog gathered from a source that the multi-talented saxophonist, pianist and guitarist, who was posted on the compulsory Teaching Practice exercise at Alatise, Ibeju-Lekki, was washed ashore on the early hours of Monday at Imagbon Beach.
A source told Ekohotblog that the gifted Educational Management student left his Alatise residence where he and other undergraduates were lodged for Teaching Practice, to join a gathering of youths in a get-together picnic at Eleko beach. He was reported to have felt lonely because his colleagues travelled home for the Eid-il-Fitri holiday.
Another source who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed to Ekohotblog that the vocalist who belongs to Team Judah, a group comprising talented students who worship with melodious songs, joined a get-together or picnic gathering at Eleko beach on Saturday at the invitation of a friend, where he was later discovered missing.
Another source, an Educational Management student who just graduated from the Department, had a contradictory account of events.
She said that the death of the young man would have been averted if the gathering had sought the help of the locals early enough. She said that the gathering felt nonchalant since he wasn’t part of the trip from Epe.
She further revealed that the deceased, the newly elected President of Educational Management Students, had his clothes and mobile phone placed on the beachside and in the company of a lady, swam in the ocean. Minutes later, it was said that the lady returned to shore while the young man was missing.
The source further revealed that locals declined to help in the search as they speculated the rumbling ocean was upset, a belief common with coastal community dwellers, but informed them to return three days after, that if he got drowned, his body would be found.
She stated that when the body was found, his eyes were already plucked out with his private part missing, an act suspected to relate with ritual killers who may have found the body earlier before the arrival of the search team.
