Lagos monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ganiyu Asunmo Aderibigbe, has appealed to the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, to accelerate the completion of the multibillion Naira National Integrated Power Project, NIPP, to curb further vandalisation by criminal elements.
The plea was triggered by an attack carried out by a gang of hoodlums in the Odo-Ayandelu community in the wee hours of Wednesday, September 1, 2021.
Speaking following the recent attack, Oba Asunmo lamented the neglect the electricity project that kicked off about a decade ago has suffered, after vandals attempted to cart away the transformers installed on the HT poles.
“I still want to put a blame on the Federal Government of Nigeria who embarked on the NIPP project but failed to energise this equipment to light up the community since 2010.
I will appeal to the management of TCN to complete this project where billions of naira have been invested without completion,” he stated.

“The entire people at Odo Ayandelu community had a sleepless night today as a result of transformer vandals who invaded the community at about 2 am. They uninstalled and brought down the transformer hung on HT poles at the UPE pry school thereby destroying it.”
Oba Asunmo also hailed the dogged resistance of the local vigilante who repelled the imminent attack by the hoodlums.
“But kudos to the local security who sighted them and raised an alarm. They shot to the air and ran away with their standby vehicle. Glory be to God they were unable to cart away the transformer,” he stated.
Speaking further, His Royal Majesty expressed displeasure at how most of the conductors installed along nearby communities: Agbowa, Odo-Ayandelu-Sagamu highway, have been mangled.
