Ikeja electricity distribution company (IKEDC) and  National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Epe say they are working assiduously to address power outage in the town.

According to Electricity Committee council, the recent blackout experienced in the last four days is caused by inability of IKEDC Officials to successfully pinpoint the electrical fault.

According to a statement by NYCN Electricity Committee, while power has been restored in neighbouring Ketu-Epe, fault tracing will continue tomorrow with the hope of power restoration in Epe.

” Unfortunately, we would not be having power tonight, as fault tracing indicated that the problem is around Epe area which IE technical officers have not been able to identify. As at this night, power has gotten to Ketu-Epe, hopefully with more tracing tomorrow, we might have power restored” the statement read

The committee however pleaded with members of the community to notify IE Officials should they notice any strange electric line in their neighbourhood.

Similarly, sources from Ikeja Electric corroborated the NYCN Electric Committee’s position. The source said the feeder was controlled till very late and promised to continue the next day with the hope of power restoration.

” The feeder has not been fully restored. We were patrolling the feeder till late today and have been able to sectionalize the fault to a particular area. We will continue tomorrow and hopefully restore power. Sorry for the inconveniences”, the source Ikeja Electric Epe Undertaking stated.

Although there has been improved service delivery in Epe since last November, the service has dropped in recent times.

Finding a lasting solution to the case of erratic power supply in Epe, which has gone on for too long, now seems overdue. While it is believed that little or no progress can be made due to the the fact that the Epe feeder is the longest in Lagos State, stretching from Sabo in Ikorodu to Epe, there are hopes that the problems would be resolved with concerted efforts by well meaning individuals to speed up the Omotosho-Epe-Ajah transmission line project.
