- …improbable adventures common among young girls are incomparable to the distinction attained with dedication and commitment to their education
EKO HOT BLOG reports that some respectable daughters of Epe Division have joined several Nigerians to condemn the growing menace of girls living extravagantly as a result of inducements from their male counterparts with their ill-gotten wealth.
In an interview with EKO HOT BLOG on the sidelines of the celebration of four iconic members of the Epe Professional Women Association last weekend, three of the exemplary career mothers shared their opinions regarding the craze for living large with questionable wealth and the menace of ritual killings where the lives of young girls are endangered.

According to the convener and founder, Mrs Kemi Adedeji, she disclosed that the monumental anti-social menace was one of the major reasons why the association
was established.
Adedeji, who is also the Lagos State Coordinator of the National Safety Net Project, said it has made them serve as a beacon of hope to young girls across Epe communities and the state at large.
She stressed that improbable adventures common among young girls are incomparable to the distinction attained with dedication and commitment to their education.
“The main reason why we put up this organisation is to bring up ourselves as role models for our girls here in Epe Division and indeed our women and for the state at large, to present ourselves to see us as role models.
“If you put in the work, the result will come. The reward for hard work is excellence and enviable achievements,” she said.
Mrs Adedeji recalled how viral teenage pregnancy was during her time. This, she said, led to an increase in the number of young girls dropping out of school.
She added that it was important to forge a force of exemplary women to campaign against the prevalent situation which is about young girls trying to get rich quickly and engaging in drugs.
“We are switching to that sort of campaign to let them know that it’s not the way to go.
“They should forge ahead with their education and the sky is not only even the limit. We have high court judges, professors, administrators, so many important dignitaries from Epe Division and we are making the Division proud.
“Our message to our girls and our women is to ensure that they pursue education, remain focused and persevere and they will be rewarded with excellence,” she emphasized.
The founder and convener of the association shared useful tips on how young girls can surmount immoral temptations.
She said, “My advice around that is that, know who your friends are, choose your friends carefully because your friends determine to a greater extent who you are.
“Maintain your inner circle, keep it short, keep it simple and remain focused.
“If you choose your friends carefully, you will never be in certain circles and you will never be out at certain times.
“These are all virtues that proper home bringing would bring to us.”
Mrs Adedeji further urged the male gender to do more, stressing that endangering the lives of young girls all in the name of money ritual was barbaric.
“The guys and men, I would say they should desist from the acts of endangering the lives of our girls.
“Even the money they said they are looking for, at the end of the day, they don’t get it, and they just waste people’s lives.
“The message is more to our girls out there. Keep it real, keep it tight, maintain a very short, minimal circle of friends and watch where you go, what you eat, who you mingle with so that you keep your sanity and you can pull through school and get onto greater heights,” she advised.
On her part, Professor Olushola, the President of EPWA who also doubles as the first female processor in the Epe Division, lend her voice towards the
She said; “At EPWA, we are trying to return all the virtues, all the family values that we’ve lost over time.
“We remember growing up was quite different from what we have now and if we could get to the pinnacle of our careers as women, as people from nowhere, people that were not born with a silver spoon, but can achieve this much in our individual lives.
“We are back in Epe for all our young girls to see us and know that even without engaging in all those negative vibes, they can still achieve much like us.
“For them to hear from the horse’s mouth, I think it will go a long way to impact their lives.”
Also, the Chairman, Lagos State Health Service Commission, made case for the girl-child and women, describing them as dear to her heart.
The medical practitioner noted that education, empowerment and the emancipation of the girl-child are capable of transforming the Nation irrespective of the challenges.
“The girl-child is very pertinent to me, I believe that if we mentor the girl child, then we would have solved half of the Nation’s problem.
“I, particularly, am deeply deeply touched by their education, I’m deeply touched about how we can empower them. I believe in Womanhood, I believe in the emancipation of women.
“Women can go a long way in this Nation, I can feel it and I also believe we will gradually get there, it is not an impossible thing but it is sure to come. Though the vision may tarry, it will surely come to pass,” she guaranteed.
