Epe Youths Protest En Masse Against Bad Governance, EndSars

Some youths in Epe Division, Lagos State had staged a protest for what they described as bad governance in Epe, in the early hours of today.

The Youths blocked Epe/Ibeju-Lekki expressway, playing football and other games, amid EndSars protest.

Some of them in a separate interviews with Eko Hot Blog Correspondent on Monday, said they have to join EndSARS protests, for government to prosecute members of the disbanded SARS, who engaged in extra judicial killings.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the ENDSARS protests, started on Oct. 8, with protesters taking to the streets in different parts of the country, calling for a reform of the Police force and disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad,(SARS), for alleged brutality on citizens.

Mr Ibrahim Olawale, Youth Leader, said that the purpose of the protest was to join voice with other masses across the country to also end bad governance.

“Enough of bad governance, enough of SARS brutality and enough of bad leadership/corruption, ” he stated.

Mr Olawale noted that the protest was not just for EndSars brutality or total reformation of police force, but also to fix the entire system of the economy.

“Nothing seems to be working in Nigeria, Our Judiciary, Executive and Legislative arms of government are all at faulty.

“We need a total reform in all system of government and infrastructure needs to be put in place for all to enjoy dividend of democracy, ” he explained.

Mr Olawale urged the Lagos state government to fix Epe/Ibeju Lekki, Epe/Ikorodu and Epe/Ijebu-Ode expressway.

“Epe is a multi link road community that lead to Ogun state and other inter and intra states, hence, it deserves a good road network, ” he said.

He stressed that the highways are all in deplorable condition and it is claiming lives day by day, therefore, needs urgent rehabilitation.

The Youths leader said the issue of land grabbers in Epe Division needed urgent attention of the government.

“This is a germaine issue that is affecting the landowners in the community and needs government quick interventions.

“The only way we all can enjoy from government is for them to provide us with adequate infrastructure, enforce law and ensure the system of government are favorable to all the citizens, ” he said.

Mr Afeez Lawal, a civil servant, noted that the protest was peaceful and the youth have take the “bull by the horn” by demanding for their rights.

“It is not out of place that the youth are doing the right thing, they demanded for a total reformation of system in the country, which the government need to respond to.

“As you can see, the youths are civil in the protest and they are all in good accord, ” he said.

Also, Mr Jubril Idris, a youth, said today’s protest was not to disrupt commercial activities in the community but to express their heartfelt concerning EndSars matter and other related issues affecting the citizens.

“We are patriotic youths, we are civil and we know our right, this is the best avenue to demand for our right, ” he said.

Idris therefore, urged the federal government to yield to the plea of the masses, reform the entire police force and fix the entire system.
