Ekohotblog reports that Youths in Epe have taken a firm step to address the issue of poor power supply in their community.
On November 22, 2024, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Epe branch, led by Comrade Moibi Ibrahim, organized a stakeholders’ meeting to discuss solutions to the problem.
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Ibrahim said, “The power crisis has gone on for too long. We, the youths, are here to demand change and to push for the development of our community. This is a collective effort, and we are ready to do our part.”
The youths listed their demands, including regular electricity supply and other development projects to improve the lives of residents. Many attendees supported the youths’ call for action, emphasizing the importance of electricity for businesses, schools, and daily life.
Representing the Epe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, Vice Chairman Hon. Sikiru Owolomose applauded the youths for their approach.
“I commend you for presenting your concerns in such a peaceful and organized way,” he said. “This issue affects everyone in Epe, and we must all join hands to solve it. Let us keep working together for a brighter future.”
A representative of Ikeja Electric also addressed the gathering, acknowledging the challenges and seeking the community’s support.
“We understand your frustrations and are committed to fixing the problems. However, we need your cooperation to make the process faster and smoother,” the representative explained.
A resident, Mrs. Suliat, said, “The youths have spoken for all of us. We believe this meeting will bring a solution to our electricity problem.”
