Tomiyasu made his first appearance of the season with a brief substitute role in Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Southampton before the international break.

The Japanese international had missed the start of the campaign due to a knee injury sustained in pre-season.
Despite being left out of Japan’s squad for their matches against Saudi Arabia and Australia to regain fitness, Arsenal now fear that Tomiyasu may have aggravated his knee issue during his brief outing against Southampton.
Sources tell TEAMtalk that the club is seriously worried he could be sidelined for another month.
This development means Tomiyasu will miss Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League match against Bournemouth, adding to manager Mikel Arteta’s growing injury concerns.
Key players Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli picked up knocks during international duty, while Kai Havertz and Thomas Partey also withdrew from their national teams with injuries.
Partey, who played at right-back against Southampton due to Ben White and Jurrien Timber being out, could remain in that role unless White and Timber recover in time for the Bournemouth clash. Meanwhile, Tomiyasu is expected to brace for another stint in recovery.
