Saka, 23, appeared to struggle with discomfort, stretching and clutching the back of his right leg before eventually sitting down on the pitch, shortly after Greece took the lead through Vangelis Pavlidis.

England interim manager Lee Carsley provided an update, stating: “He’s being assessed. You could see during the lead-up to the first goal that he felt something in his leg.”

The Three Lions were already missing key players Harry Kane and Jack Grealish due to injury, though both are expected to be fit for Sunday’s match against Finland.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are dealing with another injury blow, as captain Martin Odegaard is sidelined with an ankle injury he sustained while on international duty with Norway in September.

The Gunners will resume Premier League action on October 19 against Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.
