EPL: Chelsea Record Comeback Win Against Fulham, Arsenal Thrash Ipswich 4-0

It was a day that captured the full spectrum of Premier League emotion thrills, heartbreak, injury concerns, and season-defining moments as Chelsea came from behind to stun Fulham in a West London derby, while Arsenal kept their title hopes flickering with a commanding win at Portman Road against struggling Ipswich.

For 82 minutes, it looked as though Fulham would do the double over Chelsea for the first time in four decades. Alex Iwobi’s composed finish in the 20th minute, following a smart interception and assist from Ryan Sessegnon, had Craven Cottage bouncing. Fulham’s mix of tenacity and discipline in defence stifled Chelsea, whose away form this season has been erratic at best.

Enzo Maresca’s side came into the game desperate to keep pace in the tightly contested race for a Champions League spot, but their performance for much of the afternoon mirrored their away struggles: possession without penetration. Despite flashes from Pedro Neto and Cole Palmer, the final pass was lacking, and Bernd Leno in the Fulham goal had little to trouble him in the first half.

But football, as always, is a game of moments—and in the dying stages, Chelsea found theirs.

Enter Tyrique George, the 19-year-old academy product with just five previous league appearances, all as a substitute. Brought on late in the game, George showcased maturity beyond his years, latching onto a loose ball just outside the box and curling in a gorgeous strike past Leno in the 83rd minute. It was his second goal in three games, and perhaps the most significant of his young career.

Then came the finale—a poetic reversal of December’s late drama, when Fulham had stunned Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. This time, it was Pedro Neto who found space in the box during stoppage time, turned sharply, and delivered a thunderous half-volley that rippled the net and silenced the home crowd.

The 2-1 win sends Chelsea back into the top five, level on points with Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa but ahead on goal difference. Fulham, meanwhile, stay ninth, and with a daunting run-in that includes trips to Villa and Brentford, as well as a final-day clash with Manchester City, their dreams of European football next season hang by a thread.

Ipswich Town 0–4 Arsenal: Gunners Punish Tractor Boys But Worry for Saka

If Chelsea’s win was built on late-game heroics, Arsenal’s was a masterclass in early dominance and surgical execution. A team fighting to keep their title chase alive against Liverpool showed no mercy to Championship-bound Ipswich, delivering a performance as clinical as it was commanding.

From the outset, Mikel Arteta’s side dictated proceedings. Leandro Trossard was electric, finding pockets of space and linking beautifully with captain Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka. The Belgian broke the deadlock in the 12th minute and doubled Arsenal’s lead just before halftime, his quick feet and composure too much for Ipswich’s backline.

Gabriel Martinelli added a third early in the second half, capitalizing on a defensive error, and teenage prodigy Ethan Nwaneri made it 4-0 with a moment of brilliance in the 75th minute, becoming the youngest scorer in Arsenal’s Premier League history.

However, the comfortable win came at a cost. Midway through the second half, Saka was on the receiving end of a horror tackle from Ipswich’s Leif Davis—an ugly, studs-up challenge that left the England winger in clear distress. Davis was shown a straight red card, but the damage was already done. Saka limped off with his ankle heavily iced, casting a shadow over Arsenal’s otherwise flawless afternoon.

The win keeps Arsenal within 10 points of Liverpool, and while the title might be out of reach with just five games to go, Arteta’s men are determined to keep the pressure on and finish the season strongly. For Ipswich, the defeat inches them closer to relegation, their brief return to the top flight now looking all but over.

With both Chelsea and Arsenal chasing different forms of glory—one fighting for a seat at Europe’s top table, the other clinging to faint hopes of domestic supremacy—Sunday’s results were a testament to the Premier League’s drama and unpredictability.

As the season edges toward its climax, every goal, tackle, and substitution could be the difference between ecstasy and despair. And if April 20 was anything to go by, there are plenty more plot twists to come.
