The Foxes appeared headed for defeat after Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo gave Southampton a deserved 2-0 lead within the first 28 minutes.
EDITOR’S PICKS
Archer capitalized on Ryan Manning’s cross for an easy finish after just eight minutes, while Aribo added a second with a strike from a Kyle Walker-Peters delivery.
Despite Southampton’s dominance, Leicester displayed great resilience, with substitute Abdul Fatawu providing a spark after coming on at the hour mark.
Fatawu’s influence was felt even before Facundo Buonanotte converted his cross to pull one back for Leicester.
Leicester continued to press, and 16 minutes from time, Fatawu’s efforts again turned the game around.
He struck the bar and forced a superb save from Southampton keeper Aaron Ramsdale with a header before a scramble ensued, leading to Ryan Fraser fouling Jamie Vardy in the box.
Vardy coolly converted the penalty, and Fraser was sent off.
In a dramatic ending, Ayew struck seven minutes into stoppage time, completing Leicester’s comeback and silencing the Southampton crowd, whose frustration turned toward their own team.
