EPL: Saka Shines on Return as Arsenal Beat Fulham 2-1, Close Gap on Liverpool

  • Arsenal Closes Gap on Liverpool: The Gunners secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Fulham, moving to 61 points, nine behind league leaders Liverpool.
  • Saka Returns with a Bang: After recovering from hamstring surgery, Bukayo Saka came off the bench to score Arsenal’s decisive second goal in the 84th minute.
  • Fulham’s Late Fightback Falls Short: Rodrigo Muniz pulled one back for Fulham in stoppage time, but Arsenal held on to claim all three points.

Arsenal continued their impressive run in the English Premier League with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Fulham at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

The victory brings the Gunners within nine points of league leaders Liverpool, intensifying the title race as the season progresses.

The match kicked off with an electrifying atmosphere inside the Emirates, as Arsenal fans eagerly welcomed Bukayo Saka back into the squad following his recovery from hamstring surgery.

However, despite being included in the starting lineup, Saka initially began the game on the bench, as Mikel Arteta opted for a cautious approach regarding his fitness.

Arsenal took control early in the game, displaying their attacking intent and pressing Fulham deep into their half. The breakthrough came in the first half when Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino found the back of the net with a well-placed strike. The Gunners looked dominant in possession but struggled to convert their control into more goals, as Fulham’s defensive resilience kept them at bay.

With the scoreline still delicate, Arteta made a tactical switch in the second half, introducing Saka in a bid to inject fresh energy into the attack.

The young winger did not disappoint, making an immediate impact on the game. In the 84th minute, Saka capitalized on a defensive lapse to fire in Arsenal’s second goal, effectively sealing the win.

However, Fulham refused to go down without a fight. In stoppage time, Rodrigo Muniz pulled one back for the visitors, setting up a nervy finale. Despite late pressure from the Cottagers, Arsenal held on to secure all three points.

The win lifts Arsenal to 61 points, keeping their title hopes alive as they chase Liverpool, who currently lead the table with 70 points. The Reds will have the opportunity to restore their advantage when they host city rivals Everton on Wednesday night.

As the season enters its final stretch, Arsenal fans will be hoping their team can maintain this momentum and push Liverpool until the very end in what promises to be an enthralling title race.
