EPL: Sarr Shines As Crystal Palace Stun Brighton With 3-1 Victory
Ismaila Sarr’s brace inspired Crystal Palace to a commanding 3-1 victory over Brighton, handing their rivals a first home defeat of the season and lifting the Eagles four points clear of the relegation zone.
Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring in the 27th minute, smashing a close-range shot into the roof of the net after a chaotic scramble following a corner.

Palace doubled their lead just six minutes later when Tyrick Mitchell’s perfectly delivered cross found Sarr at the far post, where the Senegalese forward powered in a clinical header.
Sarr sealed the win in the 82nd minute, racing clear on goal and calmly slotting the ball under Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen to cap an outstanding individual performance.
Brighton managed a late consolation with a bizarre own goal from Marc Guehi. A clearance from Maxence Lacroix ricocheted off Guehi’s back and into the net, marking the England defender’s second own goal of the season.
Palace had been dominant in the first half, with Daniel Munoz forcing a sharp save from Verbruggen and Eberechi Eze narrowly missing with a header. Brighton fought back in the second half, buoyed by the introduction of Julio Enciso, who created sustained pressure on the visitors.

Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson was forced into critical saves from Lewis Dunk and Enciso as the Seagulls surged forward. Munoz thought he had added a third for Palace, but his effort was disallowed for a foul by Sarr on Pervis Estupiñán in the build-up.
Sarr’s late strike ensured a memorable win for Crystal Palace, their first against Brighton since 2021, and a much-needed boost in their fight to climb the Premier League table.
