Tottenham threw away a two-goal lead as Brighton staged a dramatic comeback to win 3-2 on Sunday. Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Spurs in the 25th minute with a clinical finish from Dominic Solanke’s assist, marking his sixth goal in six appearances.

James Maddison doubled Tottenham’s lead in the 37th minute with a shot that slipped through goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen’s weak attempt to save.

Brighton clawed their way back into the game after the break, with Yankuba Minteh smashing in a close-range effort following a poor clearance by Destiny Udogie in the 48th minute.

Ten minutes later, Georginio Rutter skilfully bypassed three Tottenham defenders to slot home Kaoru Mitoma’s pass, levelling the score.

Brighton completed their comeback in the 66th minute when Danny Welbeck was left unmarked to head in Rutter’s cross.

This marked Tottenham’s third loss in seven league matches, prompting more questions about manager Ange Postecoglou’s commitment to his attacking philosophy, which continues to expose the team’s defensive weaknesses.

Earlier in the day, Chelsea’s Noni Madueke scored an equalizer to salvage a 1-1 draw against 10-man Nottingham Forest, ending Chelsea’s five-match winning streak.

Chris Wood had put Forest ahead early in the second half at Stamford Bridge, but Madueke brought the Blues level.

Despite their numerical advantage after Forest’s James Ward-Prowse was sent off in the final 12 minutes, Chelsea couldn’t find a winner.

The draw leaves Chelsea in fourth place heading into the international break, despite the setback.
