Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed confidence in his team’s resilience, stating they will act like a “hammer” poised to strike in the Premier League title race against Liverpool.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s New Year’s Day clash with Brentford, Arteta emphasized the importance of consistency as the Gunners, currently third on the table and nine points behind league leaders Liverpool after 18 games, aim to capitalize on any slip-ups by their rivals.
“We must continue with a hammer-like mentality, showing up every day, ready to perform,” Arteta said. “If someone wins all their matches, we’ll congratulate them and prepare for the next season. But historically, that’s rare, so we’ll remain ready to seize any opportunity.”
Arteta acknowledged that the title race doesn’t entirely rest in Arsenal’s hands but stressed the importance of focusing on their own fixtures, particularly with a demanding schedule ahead. “Our attention is fully on Brentford.
We need to recover well because the coming weeks bring numerous games across different competitions, and we must stay at the top of our game.”
