EPL: What Maguire Said Over Erik ten Hag Sack Rumours

Harry Maguire has affirmed that Erik ten Hag still has the full backing of the Manchester United squad after they squandered a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Porto in the Europa League.

Ahead of the match, rumours about Ten Hag’s future swirled, but United made a strong start as Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund scored within the first 20 minutes.

However, Porto responded with Pepe’s header, and Samu Omorodion added two more, one before and one after half-time, turning the game in Porto’s favour.

United’s troubles deepened when Bruno Fernandes received a red card for the second consecutive match in the 81st minute.

Facing the prospect of another defeat, Maguire, who came on as a substitute, rescued a point with a dramatic stoppage-time header.

Despite the result, United have only managed two points from their first two Europa League games, and pressure is mounting on Ten Hag, especially with an upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa in three days.

When asked if the team still has faith in Ten Hag, Maguire told TNT Sports, “Yeah, definitely.”

“To be honest, I’ve played for this club for six years so I know how it works,” Maguire told TNT Sports.

“When you go through a bad spell, players come under pressure but also the manager does.

“He’s experienced enough, he’s been in the game long enough, he’s been at this club long enough that I’m sure he’s learned how to deal with it.

“It’s part and parcel of playing for this club or managing this club. It’s part of the privilege that you have.”
