Eko Hot Blog reports that the Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has imposed a curfew on residents following a series of gruesome murders in the area.
Saibu Kayode, the Secretary to the Local Government, made the disclosure in a statement issued on behalf of the LCDA chairman, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, on Tuesday.
The curfew will restrict movement of people between the hours of 9:00pm and 6:00am daily throughout the LCDA until further notice.
The Eredo LCDA promised to use every tool at its reach to apprehend the perpetrators of the murders while commiserating with the families of the victims.
The local government also appealed to residents to adhere to the directive, adding that security operatives will checkmate any potential breakdown of law and order.
“The Eredo LCDA has observed with serious concern the gruesome murder of citizens recently carried out in the LCDA,” the statement reads.
“While the LCDA commiserates with the families of the victims, we assure the clizens of our commitment to put in place every effort to bring the perpetrators to book.
“Consequently, a curfew is hereby declared to restrict movement of people between the hours of 9,00pm to 6.00am dally throughout the whole LCDA.
“While we equally solicit the cooperation of our citizens, we appeal to you all to go about your businesses as security operatives are on ground to checkmate the breakdown of law and order.”
