Ekohotblog reports that Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has started work on a new project to control flooding on Feko Road in Ibonwon.
This new project, led by Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, includes building a new culvert (a structure to help water flow under the road) and fixing the drainage system to better handle water.
The purpose of the construction is aimed at stopping future flooding that can damage homes, businesses, and roads.
Hon. Akinloye spoke about the importance of the project, saying,
“Flooding has been a big problem for people in this area.
This project will help us solve it and make life better and safer for everyone here.
As our major commitment is to continue with projects that meet the needs of our community.”
Residents along Feko Road are happy to see work begin. Mrs. Funmi, a resident, said, “Flooding has caused many issues here, especially during rainy seasons. I’m glad the council is finally doing something to help us.”
Local shop owners are also hopeful. Mr. Tunde, who owns a small shop on Feko Road, shared, “When it floods, I often have to close my shop, which means I lose customers for the day.
This project gives me hope that things will improve.
Hon. Akinloye also thanked the residents, saying, “Thank you for your patience and support. Together, we’re working toward a better Eredo LCDA for everyone.”
