Eko Hot Blog reports that many residents of the Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) were left excited during the week after the area’s administration launched the “Free Raw Food Outreach.”
The LCDA said the outreach was aimed at alleviating the economic effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
The event, which took place on Thursday, resulted in vulnerable residents receiving free packs of staple foods such as rice, beans, and garri.
Addressing the residents, Hon. Ismail Monsuru, the Chairman of Eredo LCDA, outlined the purpose of the initiative.
He expressed his deep concern for the community members who have been grappling with the financial repercussions of the fuel subsidy removal.
The Eredo LCDA boss emphasised the significance of community support in times of crisis, while underlining his commitment to mitigating the adverse effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
Monsuru assured the community that the programme would continue until December, providing sustained assistance.
The former Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon. Ayo Odeyemi, who shared his excitement about the initiative, was present at the launch.
“I am highly excited because you can see the influx of people here, everybody enjoying and smiling, doing all sorts of things,” Odeyemi said.
His presence added a sense of community solidarity to the event, showcasing the power of such community-led initiatives during times of crisis.
