EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester United defender, Eric Bailly has been handed a seven-match ban after he was sent off for a kung-fu kick during his loan spell at Marseille.
The Ivorian defender was shown a straight red card just 15 minutes into his side’s Coupe de France tie with fourth-tier team Hyeres two weeks ago.
Bailly could have little argument about the sending off when he mistimed an attempt to reach a bouncing ball and planted his boot studs into the chest of Almike Moussa N’Diaye.
The horror challenge left N’Diaye in a heap on the floor and in need of treatment before he was carried off the field and rushed to hospital in an ambulance for precautionary checks.
French publication La Provence reports the 28-year-old has now been handed a seven-match ban for the horror challenge, that left N’Diaye with broken ribs.
It is understood that Bailly visited his opponent in hospital to check up on him and apologise for the tackle, and that N’Diaye has now left hospital but is expected to be out for several months.
The dismissal didn’t prove to be costly on the day for Marseille, as they advanced to the round of 32 with a 2-0 win, with Alexis Sanchez getting on the scoresheet.
Bailly is already two games into the ban after he was forced to sit out their Ligue 1 victories over Troyes and Lorient.
He will miss their French Cup match with Rennes tomorrow, as well as their Ligue 1 clashes with Monaco, Nantes, Nice and Clermont Foot.
