The England international has netted five times so far this season, more than any other member of the squad.
However, he was guilty of being wasteful as the Red Devils battled their way to a 1-0 win over Omonia on Thursday night, just days prior to their Premier League game with Newcastle.
Rashford managed 10 shots for United against Omonia.
But the England international was unable to score, with Scott McTominay netting the winner in the closing stages to give the Red Devils all three points.
With five goals to his name, Rashford has started to look closer to the player he was before Ralf Rangnick’s disastrous spell as interim boss last term.
Yet Ten Hag, speaking ahead of Sunday’s showdown with Newcastle, has now insisted the 24-year-old must sharpen up in order to get even better.
“He did a lot of things well, but finally he knows that he has to be more clinical and he had to score a goal,” said Ten Hag.
‘When you have such good movements and make such good combinations, good actions, then you have to finish.
Rashford leads the way with five, while Anthony Martial, Antony and Jadon Sancho all have three apiece.
Ronaldo is on two, having scored in victories over sheriff and Everton, while Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay have both notched once each.
And Ten Hag feels he’s got players in his squad who are more than capable of scoring 20 goals across all competitions.
“Yes, I’m confident, mostly,” he said when asked if he’s content with his attacking options at Old Trafford.
“In my teams, there are players who will score. They get into positions, and it’s also about the freedom for the player, the intuition, the spaces they have to take up.
“When they have that feeling, then you will see that when they have the talent, when they have the potential, they will score that number of goals.
“I think we have in our squad players who can score that number of goals. But you can also divide it because we have many goalscorers across the offensive department.
“I think we also need something from the midfield and the defensive departments.”
And Ten Hag also opened up on Antony, too, expressing a belief the Brazil international can get even better following his stunning start to life in England.
“I think we’ve seen his dribbling capabilities, his speed, his finishing, his creating,” he said.
“Now he has to work on more variation.
“He is a player who can adapt quickly to a high level.
