EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag has left open the possibility of taking the captaincy away from Harry Maguire ahead of his first season as Manchester United manager.
Harry Maguire has been club captain since January 2020, when he was appointed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he has come under serious criticism after suffering a disastrous season.
His place in the starting XI has been under pressure during the interim reign of Ralf Rangnick and even within the dressing room Maguire’s role as captain has been discussed.
Bruno Fernandes has been vice-captain this season and has worn the armband in Maguire’s absence, but on the final day of the season at Crystal Palace the centre back was back in the side as skipper.
But Ten Hag offered no guarantees that Maguire would retain that status, although he did praise his contribution to the club since signing from Leicester City for £80million in the summer of 2019.

“Next season is a different season, but he did a great job, he is a great player, he already achieved a lot with his contribution to Manchester United. I’m looking forward to working with him,” said Ten Hag.
