EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester United’s forward, Marcus Rashford, will be sidelined for “a few games” after sustaining a muscle injury during their 2-0 Premier League victory against Everton on Saturday, according to manager Erik ten Hag.
The news comes as a blow for United as they prepare to face Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.
Rashford was substituted in the 80th minute of the match after limping off the pitch while clutching his groin.
The 25-year-old was immediately taken to the dressing room for treatment, and United confirmed that he will be unavailable for a few games but is expected to return for the season run-in.
The England international has been a key player for United this season, scoring 28 goals in all competitions and helping the team secure the Carabao Cup.
However, his absence will be felt by the team as they aim to progress in the Europa League and secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.
When asked if Rashford would be fit for the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton on April 22, Ten Hag stated that he could not provide more details about the injury’s severity as they were still assessing it. He added that they would have to wait and see how the injury develops before making any further decisions.
Despite the setback, United will be hoping to secure a positive result against Sevilla in Rashford’s absence.
The Red Devils have already faced the Spanish side twice in recent years, with the Europa League Round of 16 tie in 2018 being the most memorable, as United secured a dramatic comeback victory in extra time.
