EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will finally get his hands on the squad as they return for pre-season next week, and he’s put new plans in place for them upon their arrival at Carrington.
The Dutchman will get to work with his squad next week as they gradually begin to return to Carrington dependant on their summer international commitments. And he’s already laying down the law with a major rebuilding task at hand.
According to The Mirror, Ten Hag wants all of his players to eat together after they finish training. It’s not the first time that rule has been in place at United, because Sir Alex Ferguson also had a similar demand during his legendary tenure.
Ten Hag’s aim is to improve the team spirit which reached an all-time low last season and led to multiple reports of dressing room unrest throughout the campaign. Players have been eating when they feel like it and heading off straight after training if they want to.
Now they will sit down with their new boss and his backroom staff instead. And they’ll probably appreciate the rest, because regular double sessions await them after their initial fitness tests have been
Conducted
However, rather than putting them through their paces with cardio work, Ten Hag will subject them to passing drills and exercises with the ball in order to up their stamina.
“Ten Hag is all about training the brain,” a source told The Mirror. “United’s players will do plenty of running – but they will run with the ball rather than just being asked to sprint up sand dunes.”

The 52-year-old has also ordered the ground staff to cut the grass to 15mm to allow for his total football style of play, just as he did at Ajax. There are fears that plan could come unstuck in the winter months, though.
