Erling Haaland Scores Hat-Trick As Man City Beat Ipswich Town 4-1
Ipswich, returning to the top flight after 22 years, had a dream start against the defending champions when Sammie Szmodics, on his full debut, found the net by slipping a shot through Ederson’s legs just seven minutes in.

However, the joy was short-lived as Manchester City responded with a barrage of three goals in just four minutes.
Haaland equalized with a well-taken penalty, awarded after a VAR review overturned the initial decision by referee Sam Allison, who had ruled that Savinho had dived.
Kevin de Bruyne then pounced on hesitation from Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric to score, and Haaland quickly made it 3-1 after rounding Muric and firing into the net, all within the first 16 minutes.
City could have extended their lead further, hitting the woodwork twice, while Ipswich had a strong penalty claim denied when Leif Davis appeared to be brought down in the box by Brazil winger Savinho.

The second half saw a warm reception for Ilkay Gundogan, who returned to City on a one-year deal from Barcelona and came on as a substitute to mark his comeback.
Just when it seemed Ipswich might limit the damage, Haaland completed his hat-trick with a low drive from distance late in the game.
The victory maintains Manchester City’s perfect record from their two matches so far, while Ipswich, who faced Liverpool in their Premier League opener, are still searching for their first points after a tough start to the season.
