EU Approves Remdesivir As COVID-19 Drug
The European Commission (EU) has approved the use of Remdesivir, an antiviral drug for severe Coronavirus cases.
EU Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides made this known in a statement on Friday.
According to Stella, the drug has the tendency of speeding up recovery rate in COVID-19 patients.
“Today’s authorisation of a first medicine to treat COVID-19 is an important step forward in the fight against this virus.
“We are granting this authorisation less than a month after the application was submitted, showing clearly the EU’s determination to respond quickly whenever new treatments become available
Remdesivir is an anti viral drug created initially for treating Ebola and has at the same time proven to be the only anti-coronavirus medication approved by the EU.
