Euro 2020: Crisis In France Dressing Room As Mbappe, Giroud Clash
- Mbappe didn’t look too happy at being replaced during the Bulgaria clash on Tuesday night.
Kylian Mbappe was so livid about Olivier Giroud’s post-match comments following France’s win against Bulgaria that he reportedly wanted to go public and make an angry statement in a press conference, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
The Chelsea striker, who came off the bench to score a late brace against Yasen Petrov’s side on Tuesday night, accused his teammates of not passing to him, just a week before their European Championship opener against Germany.
It was a positive result for Les Blues on the night, with Antoine Griezmann also finding himself on the scoresheet in a relatively straightforward 3-0 victory, but Giroud’s comments after the final whistle put a dampener on an otherwise productive night.
So what did Giroud say?
After the final whistle, the former Arsenal and Montpellier forward told reporters: “Sometimes you make the runs and ball is not arriving. Perhaps we could have found each other better, there it is.”

It is believed the 34-year-old was taking a not-so-subtle swipe at teammate Mbappe. In fact, French publication L’Equipe claim that the Paris Saint-Germain forward was so angry about Giroud’s comments that he was willing to go public.
France manager Didier Deschamps refused to blame either player in his post-match comments as he tried to cool down talk of a bust-up.
“If you received the ball after each time you called for it, it is always the same,” he said.
“The attacker says: ‘I am making runs, but it’s on the midfield.’ The midfielders will say that it is on the attackers. Sometimes, the pass isn’t forthcoming, sometimes it is down the movement. But this is not a stigmatisation of Kylian or whoever.”
