Everything You Should Know About The New Auditor-General Of The Federation, Shaakaa Chira
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, confirmed the nomination of Shaakaa Chira as the Auditor General of the Federation (AuGF).
This online media platform recalls President Bola Tinubu had earlier transmitted the name of Chira to the Senate for confirmation of appointment as the Auditor General of the Federation (AuGF).

His appointment is with effect from 20th October 2023.
Chira was born on 12 February, 1968 and hails from Donga Local government of Taraba State, Nigeria.
He holds a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Public Sector Accounting as well as a Master in Business Administration (MBA).
He is a Fellow, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria – FCNA, Member, Computer Forensics Institute. Nigeria – MCFI, Member Chartered Institute of Taxation ACTI.
He is a trained AFROSAI-E Performance Auditor and has also received training on:
1. Geopolitics, Industrial Reforms and System Engineering organised by LITESOL consultancy, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), March, 2019.
2. International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) for Executives, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), May 2018.
3. International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) for senior Executives by PWC, London May, 2014.
4. Performance Auditing and Statistics by GIZ and AFROSAI-E South Africa Oct., 2012

1. Deputy Director of Audit: Programme and Performance Audit Department (2018 to 2022) – where took charge of Performance Audit division, taking Responsibility for Audit development planning and advising the Director on matters relating to auditing matters
2. Deputy Director of Audit: Federal Capital Territory/Area Council (FCT/AC) Audit Department Abuja (2017) – taking charge of division and responsibility for Audit development planning assisting in the general administration of the department
3. Assistant Director of Audit: Legislative Audit Department National Assembly (2016) – taking charge of a Branch at the Headquarters.
4. The Chief Auditor: Office of the Auditor General for the Federation; among other numerous positions held.
His hobbies are reading, listening to the news and farming. He is also married with children.
