The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), led by Abike Dabiri-Erewa says it has put the past behind it over the office saga between the commission and minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
The commission was reacting to a statement from Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) absolving the minister of forceful eviction of the NIDCOM Staff From their office.
It would be recalled that chairman of NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri had, in a viral video accused the minister of highhandedness and ill-treatment towards the commission after she claimed that its staff were forcefully evicted from their office on his order.
Abike who claimed she was out of the country when the incident happened, said personal effects of the staff and equipment of the commission were also locked up.
The allegation led to a face-off between the chairman and the minister on twitter with the duo whipping up claims and counter claims.
But the commission in a statement issued by its Head, Media and Public Relations Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun on Friday, said its priority was to actualise it core mandate and fufil its vision and mission.
The statement read: “In reaction to a statement by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) exonerating Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, Hon. Minister of Communications and Digital Economy from forceful ejection of the staff of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) from the allocated fifth floor in the NCC Annex building.
“We reiterate that the Nigerian Diaspora Commission has since put the whole saga behind it ,
” While we know that he who pays the piper dictates the tune,we remain focused on our core mandate , determined to fulfill our vision and mission statement.”
The commission calls for peace and mutual respect among heads of ministries, departments and agencies, adding that it was anticipating the release of its equipment.
It also expressed gratitude to Nigerians both home and abroad for the immense support its received during “this trying times”
“We hope that all heads of ministries, departments and agencies would continuously treat each other with respect , and apply emotional intelligence at all times, in the service of the administration and the nation.
“We look forward to the release of all our equipment which include over 140 work stations, computers , printers , a fully equipped call centre, amongst others.
“We are optimistic that all items locked up since Feb. 11th, will be released to us in good condition.
” We thank Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora for their overwhelming support during this trying period , and promise to continue to remain focused and work with diligence and determination”
