Eko Hot Blog reports that the former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, has reacted to the drama around the ministerial nomination of ex-governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
Lukman, in reaction to the objections to El-Rufai confirmation, described it as overplayed politics.
It would be recalled that the 10th Senate led by Godswill Akpabio on the 7th of August confirmed 45 other nominees, while the confirmation of former Kaduna State governor along with Stella Okotete (Delta State) and Abubakar Danladi (Taraba State) were kept on hold.
There were claims that El-Rufai and two others were not confirmed by the Senate because of undergoing security clearance.
The development in the last few days has seen the former governor of Kaduna State travel out of the country.
Lukman while speaking on El-Rufai’s situation on Channels TV on Tuesday wondered why the Senate confirmed other nominees and failed to approve the former governor’s nomination.
The ex-vice chairman of APC said, “My personal opinion is that, again, politics is being overplayed. If other nominees are cleared, I don’t see any reason why Mallam Nasir will not be cleared.
“Sincerely speaking, the earlier we reduce political considerations in terms of the determination of decisions with respect to appointments, the better for the country.”
