According to Chilean media, the alleged incident took place early Monday at a nightclub in Santiago, where some Colo Colo players were celebrating a birthday.
Police chief Gerardo Aravena reported that 37-year-old Vidal, who has previously played for Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Inter Milan, was brought to a police station for an identity verification.
Vidal, who has scored 34 goals in 142 appearances for Chile’s national team, faces this investigation shortly after another high-profile case involving former Chilean international Jorge Valdivia. Valdivia, 41, was recently placed in preventive custody following an accusation of rape, which he has denied, claiming it was a consensual relationship with an adult woman.
