Eko Hot Blog reports that the former Edo deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, justified retaining campaign vehicles. He revealed the cars were refurbished, not new acquisitions.
“The vehicles were used by previous deputies,” Shaibu explained. “I refurbished their engines, so they’re not new vehicles.”
Moreover, he received just one new car during his eight-year tenure. “I got only one new vehicle in almost eight years,” he stated.
Transition: Shaibu argued that demanding the return of the refurbished vehicles lacks compassion, considering his service and transparency.
“You can see how heartless men can be,” he remarked. “I served with commitment and accountability.”
Despite facing impeachment, Shaibu stands firm on keeping the campaign vehicles, citing their refurbished state and his long service with minimal new assets.
