EKO HOT BLOG reports that all arrangements are in top gear as family members, friends and associates from business and political space will gather in Lagos on Sunday July 31 to celebrate former Commissioner of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Duke Olabode Garbadeen as he joins the league of sexagenarian statesmen in Nigeria.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the epoch making celebration will hold in Ikeja amidst pomp and pageantry. The official colours of the day are royal blue and powder blue.
The event which is slated for 1:00 pm will have on standby the reputable and charismatic Alhaji Abass Akande, the Paramount King of Fuji, to entertain guests with his electrifying Fuji band.
Prospective guests can make enquiries via Alhaja Hamdalat Oluwakemi (0902 806 0122), who would run point in planning the big occasion, alongside Chief Ola Apena (0802 302 5806).
Mr. Garbadeen, Olabode Waheed, who is also a writer, seasoned journalsit and community development enthusiast, was born into the family of Alhaji and Alhaja Adebayo Garbadeen of Epe on 31st July, 1962.
He attended L. A Primary School, Epe from 1968- 1973, after which he proceeded to Epe Grammar School, Epe for his Secondary School Education in 1976 and in 1981. He obtained his West Africa School Certificate (WASC).
He started his working experience with the National Youth Service Corps Headquarters then in Surulere, Lagos when he was employed as a Clerical Officer/Data Analyst.
In continuation of his education, Mr Garbadeen gained admission into the Lagos State University, Ojo in 1984 and in 1988, he was awarded a B. A (Hons) Arts.
He did his National Youth Service Corps at the Nigerian Tide Newspaper, Port Harcourt and during the one-year programme, he worked as a Proof Reader, Features and Sports Writer.
From 1992 to 1995, Mr Garbadeen worked as the Administration Manager of Gbemys Electrical Nigeria Limited, the importer of Caprari Submersible Pumps and during this period, he was directly in charge of recruitment of staff, in-house training, discipline, motivation and mobilization of workers among others.
He became the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Alumni Association from 1998 to 2001. In the same year that his tenure ended as the Executive Secretary (2001), he became the Managing Consultant of Bright Konsult and Associates Limited.
In 2009, he attended the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) where he obtained Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Journalism in 2012.
In June 2015, Mr Garbadeen became the Special Assistant (Operations) with the Lagos State Printing Corporation, the position he held till Friday, 30th October 2015 when he was appointed by His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, as the Commissioner representing Epe Division in the Local Government Service Commission on Monday, 2nd November 2015.
Mr Garbadeen who loves reading, swimming and writing has to his credit the publication of six (6) books which include the Dilemma of a Detective (2008), Elephant and the Tortoise (2009), Self-Made Lunatic (2011) and Laide Goes to London (2015).
