Ex-LASTMA GM Maroof Musa Assumes Office As Lagos Transportation Ministry’s Permanent Secretary
Eko Hot Blog reports that Mr. Maroof Musa has assumed duty as the new Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
The development was announced in a statement issued by Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Transportation, Lagos, on Monday.
Musa, a former general manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), replaced Mr. Abdulhafiz Toriola.
In his maiden address to staff of the ministry on Monday, the new permanent secretary sought the cooperation of all for maximum productivity.
He said that it was necessary for the ministry to consolidate on the achievements of traffic management and transportation in Lagos to further drive the economy of the state.
Musa, who previously served in the same position before becoming the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Chief of Staff, Governor’s Office, also commended Toriola, the outgone permanent secretary for his “tremendous work” in the ministry and charged all staff to be productive and effective at their duty posts.
The statement disclosed that Musa was redeployed from the Ministry of Establishment and Training.
In his handover address, Toriola, who has also been redeployed to the Ministry of Housing, appealed to members of staff to give Musa the necessary support to ensure the success of the ministry.
“Musa brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position, having demonstrated outstanding leadership and administrative skills in his previous roles as General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, (LASTMA), Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Chief of Staff and Ministry of Establishment and Training,” the statement further revealed.
“The Permanent Secretary, having showcased his commitment to excellence and deep understanding of the Public Service, has also declared his readiness to take the transport sector of the State to a higher level.”
Musa, a native of Epe, Lagos State, describes himself as an experienced Human Resource Manager with a demonstrated history of
working in the government administration industry.
He is “skilled in Budgeting,
Business Planning, Operations Management, Government, and Public
Speaking.”
The new permanent secretary holds a Bsc degree in Chemistry and a MBA from Lagos State University (LASU).
Musa is a Doctoral Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Human Resources Management, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria, a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators, and a Professional Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration.
